Rendang ( a Traditional Malay Dish)

Ingredients

1 kilo of tenderloins ( cut into 1/4 inch thick strips)

3 stalks of lemongrass ( cut thinly and pounded with mortar and pestle)

5 shallots, 5 garlics and 1 inch of ginger ( pounded with mortar and pestle)

kerisik ( grated coconut, fry without oil until brown and pound it until the oil comes out)

1 cup of thick coconut milk

3 or more chillies ( cut thinly )

1 turmeric leaf ( roll and slice thinly )

1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder

2 teaspoon of lemon juice

salt and pepper to taste

How to cook

1. Put the all the ingredients ( except the meat ) inside a wok.

2. Cook on a slow fire until you can see the oil on the surface.

3. Add the meat and cook for about 25 minutes. Cover the wok.

4. Serve with steamed rice and vegetables.
